The first glimpse of an otter is something you will always remember. They have a charm and elegance as they dart and play in the surf. During late summer there are great opportunity to get close and personal to them.
At Unwind in Nature, we have studied them for many years and followed them through the seasons and know their routines as much as one can. Our journeys into the world of the otter take you out not open beaches, stunning coastlines and sheltered havens where the otter is at home.
We will teach you how to track them and show you what they eat . You may be surprised. There are great opportunity to capture the image of a lifetime and through our knowledge and field craft, we will teach you how to gain the maximum from your own otter watching adventures.
The best time to see otters is July to December and these are the times when the mother has her young and is teaching them how to feed and learn about their world. You can see them all year, but having studied them here in the Hebrides for over twenty years these are the dates that most provide the best sightings.
Otter Spotting Experiences 2017
While we can never guarantee otters on any trip our local expertise in knowing their habitat dramatically increases the opportunity to see close at hand these beautiful creatures.
Our otter spotting tours last for approximately 4 hours or half a day and are dependant on tides and weather. We will take you on a fascinating journey into the world of the otter while explaining their fascinating life and habitats.
We are excited to show you the world of otters but in order to ensure they are not disturbed, we limit these trips to three people max. As the only Eco Tourism business in the Outer Hebrides, it is important to us to preserve the environment and the nature we encounter.
